Ståle Solbakken is a football manager from Norway. He was born in1968 in Kongsvinger, Norway, and began to play at the local team Grue. In 1989, he joined HamKam and in 1991 helped them to get promotion to t Norwegian Premier League and in 1993 they finished fifth showing the best ever result. From 1994 till 1997 Solbakken played for Lillestrøm and then moved to the English side Wimbledon for a season.
In March 1998, Solbakken joined Danish team Aalborg BK and in the summer of 2000 moved to Copenhagen. In March 2001, he suffered clinical death and after that retired from playing.
Solbakken made his first appearance for the national team in 1994 and featured in 58 matches for the Norway national team.
In 2002, he took over his managerial career and managed HamKam until the winter of 2005. Then he took charge of Copenhagen and worked there until 2011. He brought the club to Royal League title in 2005/06, five times they won Danish Superliga and in 2009 they won the Danish Cup. Then he had a season at 1. FC Köln and in July 2012 was appointed the head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, after just 6 months in charge of the Wolves, the Norwegian had to leave the post.
