Steve Komphela is a South African former professional player and a coach. Steve was born on 1 July 1967 in Kroonstad.
Komphela’s playing career passed at such clubs as Free State Stars, Kaizer Chiefs, Gaziantepspor and Çanakkale Dardanelspor. On international level, Steve represented the South Africa national team from 1992 to 1995. Altogether, he made 24 appearances for the squad.
In 2002, he started his coaching career. The first club, where he tried himself as a manager was Manning Rangers. In 2003, Steve moved to Dynamos. In 2004, he was managing the South African U-20 team. From 2006, Komphela was at the same time the coach of Maritzburg United and the coach of the South Africa U-23 squad. In 2008, he stopped training the national side. He had a year contract with Free State Stars in 2008 and then joined Platinum Stars. In 2010, Steve opted to return to the former club Free State Stars for three years.
Since 2014 Komphela has been at the helm of Maritzburg United.
