Stuart Baxter is the current coach of Kaizer Chiefs FC. He’s also the former Scottish footballer. Stuart was born on 16 August 1953 in Wolverhampton, UK.
Baxter’s playing career started in 1971, when he entered the academy of Preston North End. Altogether, he spent 14 years performing for numerous clubs in Scotland, Sweden, England and Australia. He used to operate as a midfielder for teams of Morecambe, Dundee United, Stockport Country, South Melbourne FC, Helsingborgs IF, San Diego Gauchos and Örebro SK.
Baxter got the UEFA Pro Licence qualification and started his coaching career. In 1985, he was the coach of Örebro SK’s junior squad. The following year, he was hired by the Norwegian club IF Skarp, where he served as a manager. He also had a deal with Vitória Setubal and in 1988 moved to Sweden, where he managed the team of Halmstads BK. Stuart also has experience coaching the Japanese squads. At first he was the manager of Sanfrecce Hiroshima and then Vissel Kobe.
In 1998, the coach was hired by AIK. In two years, Stuart joined the Norwegian club Lyn Oslo. In 2002, he was appointed as the coach of the England U-19 squad. In 2004, Baxter had a disappointing tenure with the South African full side Bafana Bafana. The squad didn’t manage to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
In 2006, Stuart had a short deal with Vissel Kobe and move to Helsingborgs IF. In 2008, Baxter was appointed the coach of Finland. The contract was extended during the spell and Stuart remained with the team until 2010. In 2012, he was hired by Kaizer Chiefs FC. That’s his second spell in the South African football.
Among the trophies win by Baxter the greatest was the victory in the 1998 Swedish League with AIK. He also guided the team to winning the country’s main cup in 1999. In 2006, Stuart helped Helsingborgs to become the holder of Svenska Cupen.
