Tabaré Silva is a former Uruguayan defender and current coach of Defensor Sporting in the Primera División. He was born on 30 August 1974 in Mercedes, Uruguay.
Tabaré started out his playing career with Defensor Sporting in 1992. In six years he moved to Spain where he played for such clubs as Sevilla, Levante and Elche until 2003. He helped Sevilla to win the Segunda División in the 2000/01 season. In 2004, Silva returned to Uruguay and played in defense for Central Español, River Plate, Rampla Juniors, Sud América and Villa Española until his retirement in 2008. Since 1994 till 2000, Silva earned 19 caps to the Uruguay national team making several appearances in the Copa América in 1995 and 1997.
Tabaré Silva took up coaching in 2010 when he signed a contract with Sud América. After a short managerial spell at El Tanque Sisley, he took charge over his favorites Defensor Sporting and coaches the team till today.
