Torsten Lieberknecht is a retired professional midfielder and current coach of Eintracht Braunschweig in the 2. Bundesliga. He was born on 1 August 1973 in Bad Dürkheim, Germany.
Torsten began his professional career with FC Kaiserslautern in 1992 and made his Bundesliga debut against SG Wattenscheid 09 on August 1992. After a season at Waldhof Mannheim, Lieberknecht joined FSV Mainz 05 where he played for seven years. In 2003, he moved to Eintracht Braunschweig where he spent the last four years of his playing career until the retirement in 2007.
Lieberknecht embarked on his managerial career as a coach of Eintracht Braunschweig youth team in 2007. In a year he took over the first team after Benno Möhlmann. It was much to Lieberknecht immense credit that the club improved their results impressively and enjoyed a tremendous surge in popularity after they won back their ticket to the 2. Bundesliga for the 2011/12 season.
