Viktar Hancharenka is the head coach of Kuban Krasnodar. He was born on 10 June 1977 in Khoiniki, Belarus.
Viktar Hancharenka is a graduate of Khoiniki RUOR Minsk sports school.
From 1995 to 1997 he played for RUOR Minsk, and then received an invitation from BATE, where he performed from 1998 to 2002. For five years at the club Hancharenka won five medals of the Belarusian championship - two gold, two silver and one bronze.
At the age of 25 Viktar suffered a serious injury and had to finish his playing career. In 2004 Hancharenka graduated from the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture with a football coach diploma.
From 2004 to 2006 he was the coach of BATE reserves. On 13 November 2007 he was promoted to the head coach of the main squad. Hancharenka has coaching licenses of A, B and Pro categories.
In 2008, for the first time in the history of Belarusian football, Hancharenka led a Belarusian football club to the Champions League group stage. Since then BATE became a regular in this UEFA competition. However, in 2009 and 2010 the Borisov club competed in Europa League making it to the 1/16 round once. The Belarusian champions had two draws with PSG (1-1 and 0-0), but failed to go any further due to the goal conceded on the home field.
Hancharenka is quite popular among Russian and Ukrainian clubs. In December 2009 he was invited to FC Kuban Krasnodar. In October 2010 the management of Lokomotiv Moscow offered Viktar Hancharenka a job at the club. In August of that same year he was offered the manager position first at Dynamo Moscow and then at their Kyiv namesakes.
In 2011 Hancharenka for the second time led the Borisov club to the Champions League group stage.
In 2012 he repeated the success for the third time. On 19 September Hancharenka led BATE to their first-ever victory in the group stage of the Champions League – the win over Lille OSC (3-1). Another astonishing feat is home victory over one of the strongest clubs of the world – the win over FC Bayern Munich (3-1).
After a long career with BATE Borisov including 6 seasons as a head coach, Viktar was lured away to a Russian side Kuban Krasnodar in October 2013.
