Vladimir Petkovic is a Bosnian football player and manager who was born on 15 August 1963 in Sarajevo. He started his playing career in the local team FC Sarajevo and till 1989 played mostly in the Yugoslavian clubs. Petkovic moved to the Swiss club Sion in 1988, later moving to Bellinzona and Locarno.
After retiring from playing he entered into managerial craft in Bellinzona in 1997. Petkovic led the team to the final of the Swiss Cup where they were beaten by Basel, although later the team was promoted to the top division. Before the start of the 2008/2009 season the Bosnian tactician was appointed as a manager of Young Boys and in a short time transformed the side introducing 3-4-4 formation. Subsequently the club finished as a runner-up behind Basel. Petkovic was dismissed from his post in 2011 after a draw with Luzern.
The manager headed for a short spell the Turkish Samsunspor and Swiss Sion in 2012. From the summer 2012 to the beginning of 2014 he was managing Lazio.
