Zdenko Verdenik is a football manager from Slovenia. Currently he is the head coach of Omiya Ardija. He was born in 1949 in Yugoslavia and spent his playing career with local non-professional teams.
In 1984, Zdenko Verdenik took over his managerial career at NK Olimpija Ljubljana, where he worked during one season and then managed the Slovenia U-21 national team. From 1994 to 1997 he was the tactician of the Slovenia national team. Under his guidance the team didn’t make any achievements and nevertheless he maintained stability. After that he was the head coach at FK Austria Wien and then moved to Japan, where he guided JEF United Ichihara, Nagoya Grampus Eight and Vegalta Sendai from 2000 to 2004.
In 2012, Verdenik returned to Japan and took charge of Omiya Ardija, where he still works.
