The Aruba national team represents the minute Caribbean state on the international scene. It is overseen by the Arubaanse Voetbal Bond which was founded in 1932. The team got affiliation to FIFA and CONCACAF in 1988. It is also a member of the Caribbean Football Union.
The squad got a first taste of international action in a match against Curaçao in April 1924 which they lost 0-4. A football dwarf, Aruba has never reached the FIFA World Cup finals or qualified for the Gold Cup. The team celebrated their biggest 4-1 win over Cuba in August 1955 and suffered the biggest 0-11 defeat to Trinidad and Tobago in June 1989.
The Aruban team was ranked 154th in the FIFA world table in October 2012 and for the moment it is the highest position they ever reached.
