The Central African Republic, nicknamed the Wild Beasts, is the member of CAF. The team participated in the World Cup qualifying campaign twice and has rarely showed decent result in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Central African Republic won the 2009 CEMAC Cup and during the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign it defeated Algeria, which noticeably raised the team’s position in the FIFA ranking list. Today it is ranked 73rd. Herve Lougoundji is the team’s caretaker at the moment.
Its biggest win came against Chad in 1999, 4-1, and the biggest loss happened in 1985 in the game with Cameroon 0-7.
