The Curaçao national team represents the minute Caribbean state in the association football. It is governed by the Curaçao Football Federation which was founded in 2010 after the dissolve of the Netherlands Antilles. The same year, the team affiliated to FIFA and CONCACAF.
Curaçao got off to disastrous start as it was thrashed 0-4 in its first international match against the fellow Netherlands Antilles state Aruba in 1924. The squad celebrated their biggest 14-0 win over Puerto Rico in December 1948 and suffered the biggest 1-8 defeat to the Netherlands in the same year. A football minnow, Curaçao was never to qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, saying nothing of the World Cup finals. However, it met with some competitive success as Netherlands Antilles in the CONCACAF Championship: he team was the third-place finisher in 1963 and 1969.
The Curaçao national team was ranked 151st in the FIFA table in November 2012, climbing up to the 146th at the utmost.
