Football association of Moldova was founded immediately after the USSR collapse and in July 1991 the team played its first match against the national team of Georgia. The team hasn’t achieved much: it has not qualified for playoffs of any prominent international tournament. Moldova’s clubs aren’t very successful in the UEFA Champions League and the League of Europe. Spring 2008 was really fortunate for the team: it reached the 39th place in the FIFA world ranking.
Radu Rebezha played the biggest amount of matches in the Moldavia national team. Many remember him for playing in several Russian clubs.
