Somalia national team represents Somalia in the association football. It is supervised by the Somali Football Federation founded in 1960. In 1960 the team affiliated to FIFA and in 1975 became the CAF member.
The team made a poor start losing 0-14 to North Korea during their international debut in November 1963. That match turned to be their biggest ever defeat to date. Somalia’s biggest victory was recorded in August 1985 when they beat Mauritania 5-2. Lacking skill and proficiency, Somalian team have never broken into the final stages of the World Cup or the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Somalian players are often nicknamed the Ocean Stars. They play their home matches at Mogadishu Stadium which can host up to 35,000 people.
