5 reasons why our editor will spend this weekend at home

5 reasons why our editor will spend this weekend at home

We’ve told him that fresh air and outdoor activities improve one’s health, we’ve bought him two tickets for the concert of “not-his-favorite-but-still-cool” band, we’ve urged him to socialize more, but the man stood as hard as a rock and silently passed us a note, entitled “My 5 reasons for football weekend”.

1. Borussia Dortmund - Schalke 04

The derby of the fiercest rivals on Saturday will be one of the most competitive games of the weekend. For a Schalke fan there are not so many things in this world that can compare to the sweet taste of victory over their arch rivals, thus healing little inferiority complex for a couple of days and grabbing some points from opponents. Schalke may not be Bundesliga title contender, but denying Borussia the chance to defend the trophy is probably the best consolation.

2.Juventus- Napoli

The teams are leading in the league, level on 19 points and staying unbeaten in the season. Napoli is the only side that defeated Juventus last season, clinching the Italian Cup with 2-0 victory, though after that final the Old lady answered strongly in the Supercup in Beijing, storming Napoli 4-2.

3. PSG - Stade Reims

“We are not going to take photos of the Parc des Princes” snapped Stade Reims manager Hubert Fournier. The small team that was promoted to the League last season occupies the fifth place on the table, two points behind the Parisian team and is ready to fight with one the richest clubs in Europe. “We’ll just go out there to have some fun and try to cause an upset.”-added Fournier. Surely, that is all we ask from top match on Saturday, do not we?

4.Real Madrid - Celta Vigo

After the international break the royal club will miss Marcelo that was sidelined for three month with a fractured bone in his foot, as well as Coentrao, Alvaro Arbeloa, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuian. The title holders are fifth after a lousy start to the campaign and desperately need more points to reach Barca and organize the breathtaking race for the title in May which seems to be Mourinho’s main hobby, yet on Saturday they should be ready to face strong opposition.

5.Tottenham - Chelsea

Andre Villas-Boas tries to make an impression that he is not bitter about his sacking from Chelsea in March. He also claims that the stint in the capital club developed him as a coach, saying the Saturday match is just “special”. Yet, we know perfectly well that this game is a brilliant chance to get revenge over his former employer and show that the mishap in the Blues was accidental.

God, I've already missed Arsenal - Chelsea and now I'm going to miss one more derby. Kill me, please.
