Ajax Alderweireld is keen on Premier League move

Ajax Alderweireld is keen on Premier League move

Ajax centre-back Toby Alderweireld revealed he would jump at the chance of playing for Premier League club, in the wake of interest from Tottenham and Liverpool.

Despite recent speculations linking the 24-year-old Belgian with a move to either Russian moneybags or Portuguese sides, Alderweireld revealed he would accept only offers from England or Germany.

The highly-rated ball-playing defender said: “That is not my preference. England and Germany are the best leagues where I think I can take the next step. I have to go somewhere where I can play football a bit and where my style of play suits. On the other hand, I do not want to play for a team at the bottom of their league. I want to leave Ajax for a nice club, otherwise I’ll just stay in Amsterdam.”

Liverpool have been touted as the most likely contenders for player’s signature, as they are looking for a replacement to Jaime Carragher, who decided to hang up his boots. With compatriots Kompany, Vertonghen and Vermaelen making a huge contribution at their respective sides, Liverpool will do their utmost to sign Alderweireld who is likely to have no problems of adjusting to Premier League pacey style.
