Ajax Alderweireld on the verge of joining Bayer Leverkusen

Ajax centre-back Toby Alderweireld is close to signing for Bayer Leverkusen, according to his father.

Alderweireld has put a numerous European clubs on alert early this week by admitting he is determined to leave Netherlands. The 24-year-old revealed he wants to play at the highest level and win trophies and is seriously considering the possibility of moving either to England or Germany.

However it looks like Liverpool and Tottenham, who have been sniffing around for around year, are set to miss out on Alderweireld as he is in advanced stage of the negotiations over the proposed move to Leverkusen.

Toby’s father Vic Alderweireld said: “Bayer Leverkusen is the club who we are the furthest with in our discussions. We will quickly meet the club again.”
