Andriy Shevchenko turns down the offer to become Ukraine’s new head coach

Andriy Shevchenko turns down the offer to become Ukraine’s new head coach

The 36-year-old former AC Milan and Chelsea player refused to take charge of the national team saying that he is not ready and doesn’t have coaching experience.

Shevchenko retired after Euro 2012 and tried to find his way into politics, though his party wasn’t a success, having failed to be elected to the Parliament. He was offered the position of a tactician in the national squad last week nevertheless Shevchenko refused to take over his managerial career with the Ukrainian team, considering it as ‘premature step’ for him.

Oleg Blokhin switched to Dynamo Kiev shortly before the FIFA World Cup qualifier thus the Ukraine national team turned in a tight situation. Currently they are fifth in Group H, having earned two points from three games.
