Another set of qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup

Another set of qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup took place on 11 September 2012.

Asia’s semi-final qualifying round bore fruits to Japan, Jordan and Lebanon as they ended matchday 4 with a win over their opponents. Uzbekistan and Korea Republic ended in a 2-2 draw.

Japan managed 1-0 victory against Iraq without their key Manchester United winger Shinji Kagawa, who was chained by back pain just before the showdown kick-off. Nevertheless, Ryoichi Maeda scored a goal with his head in the 25 minute.

The Jordanians became a barn burner with their unexpected 2-1 win over Australia, securing them the second place in Group B after Japan.

The USA put to 1-0 rout Jamaica on Tuesday as Herculez Gomez made a fierce curling shot from the right in the 55th minute.

After a 0-1 defeat to Guatemala, the chances of Antigua and Barbuda to advance to the next stage seemed to come to nothing.

Guatemala, USA and Jamaica drew level to 7 points each in Group A in the penultimate round of qualifying in CONCACAF.

Manchester United icon Javier Hernandez brought 3 points to Mexico with his netting a winning goal against Costa Rica on home soil and secured his team a promotion to the fourth round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. After beating Guyana 3-2, El Salvador became a runner-up in the pool after Mexico.

With its 0-1 loss to Honduras, Cuba heads towards weary stalemate still having zero points and is seemed to be eliminated from rivalry. Panama broke down Canada 2-0 and is currently placed top in the pool.

Though playing dull and dingy away 1-1 draw against Peru, Argentina holds out in the top of the table of the South American qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup with 14 points.

Colombia was integral to success and claimed a surprise 3-1 win over Chile gaining the second position in the CONMEBOL qualifying zone table.

Venezuela pulled off an impressive 2-0 victory at Paraguay thanks to Salomon Rondon’s terrific brace. Ecuador played in a 1-1 draw with Uruguay in Montevideo.

Two more qualifiers were held in Oceania on 11 September 2012: New Zealand thrashed Solomon Islands 6-1 and New Caledonia sank Tahiti 4-0.
