Anzhi to bid for Barcelona Valdes

Russian moneybags Anzhi Makhachkala are looking to make a lucrative contract offer for Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes in a bid to steal the player from Arsenal noses.

Valdes, who is entering the final year of his contract with Barcelona, has put on alert top European clubs by stating he does not wish to extend his contract with the Spanish giants. Arsenal, who are looking for a replacement to their error-prone goalie Wojciech Szczesny, were considered the favourites to land the Spaniard, however now it turned out they face a tough competition from the side of fabulously wealthy Anzhi.

Russian side are prepared to lure the player by offering him a three-year contract worth of stunning £160,000 per week, which will make him highest earning goalkeeper in the world. Should Anzhi make a move for the player, Arsenal will be forced to step aside, as such a contract, as it could break their wage structure.

Barcelona also want to get around £12million for the player.
