Argentina defeated Germany 3-1 in a friendly game

Argentina ended a friendly match with 3-1 victory over ten-men Germany.

Lionel Messi missed a penalty kick after German goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler was sent off for bringing down Jose Sosa in the first half. So Germany played for about an hour with ten men.

Argentina took the lead in first-half injury time, when Semi Khedira deflected Angel di Maria’s corner kick with his knee and scored an own-goal.

Messi doubled the score in the 52nd minute and Angel di Maria netted the third in the 73rd minute.

Benedict Hoewedes scored a consolation goal for the hosts in the 81st minute.

The results of other international friendlies, which took place on 15 August:

England earned 2-1 victory over Italy, while Russia ended in 1-1 draw in a friendly against Ivory Coast in Moscow. That was Russia’s first game under the guidance of Fabio Capello.
