According to Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay, Arsenal are inclined to activate the £3.5m buy-out clause for Mexican striker Carlos Vela. The 25-year old started his senior career with The Gunners in 2005, but was unable to establish himself in the starting eleven. After loan spells with Salamanca, Osasuna and West Bromwich Albion, the Mexican signed for Real Sociedad in 2011 and turned into a top-class player. Arsenal had an option too buy him out for as little as £3.5m and Arsene Wenger opted to activate the clause to provide more competition for Olivier Giroud.

Last season Carlos Vela played in 52 matches, netted 21 goals and provided 14 assists. He is not playing at the World Cup due to personal reasons.
