Arsenal boss Wenger chases Hamburg goalie Adler

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has turned his attention to Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler in his search of new number one.

The Frenchman, whose obsession with value has become proverbial, is adamant the price-tag of £15 million slapped on Begovic and Mignolet by Stoke and Sunderland respectively is too dear a price for the goalkeeper. Wenger instructed his scouts to assess the ability of the 28-year-old Germany international and discover whether he is available for transfer in summer.

Adler, a man of character and a strong performer, is considered as an ideal replacement to Wojciech Szczesny, who is expected to be offloaded due to his sheer inconsistency and mental fragility. Wenger believes he can sign Adler for around £ 5million.
