Legendary Arsenal defender Tony Adams urged warned Manchester United star Wayne Rooney of a move to the Emirates stadium, as he does not believe England forward is good enough for the Gunners.
Unsettled Rooney has been linked with a move to Arsenal or Chelsea, after he asked Sir Alex Ferguson to put him on the transfer list for the second time during his career at Old Trafford. However former Arsenal skipper Tony Adams, who made in excess of 650 appearances for the club, claimed Wayne Rooney is not mentally strong enough to make a decisive impact at the Emirates stadium.
He said: “I’m not sure Wayne Rooney could handle London. That would be a massive risk for me. I don’t think it’s a question of finances, it’s his temperament and mentality. London is a different animal. It takes a different type of player to handle it.
“Wayne is ¬a super player and I would love to see him at the Arsenal. But I’m not sure about him mentally, off the pitch and his ¬professionalism. I wouldn’t like to spend my money on Wayne,” he added.
