Arsenal set to offload dead wood Djourou and Bendtner

Arsenal continue offloading dead wood as Johan Djourou and Nicklas Bendtner on course of leaving Emirates, following the departure of Andrey Arshavin to Zenit St Petersburg on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old Swiss Djourou is on the verge of joining Hamburg on a season-long loan deal with an option of a permanent transfer, as the defender is scheduled for a medical next week.

The 25-year-old Dane Bendtner is topping the wish list of German dark horses Frankfurt, who finished sixth last season, and need to strengthen their attacking option ahead of next season’s Europa League campaign.

It seems that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be active this summer, after being handed £70 million war chest and having part ways with high-earning players, warming the bench. In particular, Gunners are close to making a switch for Real Madrid forward Gonazlo Higuain and are expected to step up their interest in unsettled Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
