Arsenal set to seal £25m Walcott deal this week

Daily Mail reports that Arsenal are looking to offer their young forward Walcott a five-year deal worth of £25 million to put an end to his long-running contract saga.

It is to be recalled that contract negotiations have stalled after Walcott rejected Arsenal’s offer of £75,000-per-week in August. It is believed that the Wenger’s reluctance play Walcott at the position of striker was the main stumbling block in the contract talks. Walcott was in the dark over his Arsenal’s future ever since. And yet he somehow managed to overcome the stress inevitable in such situation and started showing his manager just how good he could be when using his talents as is right and proper.

Undoubtedly it is his form and the sheer professionalism that convinced Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger to meet Walcott’s demands and offer him improved contract of £88,000 per week along with the guarantee that he will play at the position of the striker.

Walcott has been in impressive form this season, scoring 14 goals and setting up another 12 in 24 appearances.
