Mesut Ozil has turned into a key player for Arsenal as he scored and assisted Olivier Giroud last night. Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky both returned from injuries thus boosting Arsene Wenger’s options in midfield. Camouflage-coloured Napoli were absolutely out of their spirits and had few arguments against an organized London side. Borussia, without some of the key players and suspended coach proved too strong for Olympique Marseille and ran to a 3-0 victory in Dortmund.

Chelsea experienced no difficulties in Bucharest beating Steaua 4-0 courtesy to Ramires, who scored a brace, Frank Lampard and an own goal from Daniel Georgievski. Schalke 04 kept the second straight clean sheet in Basel.

Cesc Fabregas netted the only goal in Glasgow as Barcelona overcame 10-man Celtic. Milan required Mario Balotelli’s cheating in the dying minutes of the game to equalise from penalty spot and get a point from Amsterdam.

Atletico Madrid managed to get a 2-1 victory at Estadio Do Dragao despited being down after the first half. Goals from Diego Godin and Arda Turan put Diego Simeone’s side top of the group ahead of paired matches against Austria Wien, who earned a surprise draw against Zenit St.Petersburg.
