Arsene Wenger wants Van Persie to stay

Manager Arsene Wenger said that Van Persie had one year left at the Emirates according to the player’s contract and the club wanted to keep him.

The French tactician stated that ’Van Persie is first-class striker and I am his huge supporter. I have supported him through his entire career.’

Wenger believes the transfer market should stop before the start of the season and he is determined to settle the deal before 31 August.

The official contract of the striker finishes only next summer but after the disappointing season when the club finished 3d in the Premier-League and was defeated in the Champions League by Milan Van Persie refused to sign a new contract with the team.
