Aston Villa Benteke wants an improved deal

Aston Villa prolific striker Christian Benteke is waiting for a new improved deal from his club, as he helped the Villans to avoid relegation.

Benteke enjoyed an impressive debut season at Villa Part, netting 19 Premier League goals, since joining Aston Villa from Genk for £7million. Benteke’s outstanding performance this season was a decisive factor helping Paul Lambert’s side to move five points clear from relegation zone with one game remaining. Benteke’s performance has also attracted interest from host of Premier League clubs, with Arsenal and Liverpool seriously considering the possibility of luring the player.

Benteke’s agent Eris Kismet revealed he expects to sit down with club’s representatives in the near future to negotiate the improved deal for his client. He said: “Now that Villa’s future is secure I hope we can have discussions by the end of this week. If not, then next week. We did the transfer deal last summer with Aston Villa with a lot of respect. We hope that discussions on a new contract will be done in the same way. Villa have said they want to speak for several weeks, but it has been difficult because of the situation in the Premier League. Now they are safe the situation will change.”

Kismet admitted a lot of clubs are interested in securing the services of the 22-year-old Belgian, stating: “A lot of scouts from many teams have an interest in Christian. Now Villa’s future in the Premier League is decided we will know more. It is natural for many teams to show an interest when Christian has had such a good season.”
