Aston Villa, Fulham chase Dnipro Boateng

Villa manager Paul Lambert is looking to hijack Fulham’s bid for Dnipro defensive midfielder Derek Boateng.

The news that the 29-year-old Ghanaian is available to leave his club this month has boosted the speculations linking him with a move to one of the Premier League clubs. Fulham have agreed the transfer fee and personal terms with the player and he was thought to sign for the Cottagers in the next few days, however Aston Villa have made a late move for the player.

Paul Lambert is reportedly willing to strengthen his leaky defensive line by adding reliable defensive midfielder into his squad and considers Boateng as an ideal candidate.
