Aston Villa vs Tottenham. Premier League Matchday 19 Preview

Aston Villa vs Tottenham. Premier League Matchday 19 Preview

Throughout the previous week Paul Lambert has experienced both triumph and disgrace as his side has beaten 3-1 Liverpool at the Anfield and then suffered a humiliating 0-8 defeat to rampant Chelsea. After such defeats the coaches usually either resign or begin the comprehensive rebuilding of the team. However Aston Villa board seems to be to such an extent shocked with the latest events that is has neither made any official announcement as regards the disgraceful result nor it has publicly questioned Lambert’s ability to handle the situation. However it is a sure bet that Lambert has to strengthen his defensive line in order to guarantee that team does not crash to heavy defeat again. The result of the fixture against Tottenham may prove to be decisive for Paul Lambert’s future.

Aston Villa coach faces selection headache ahead of the game with Tottenham as Aston Villa have lost their several first-choice players due to injuries. Gabby Agbonlahor (thigh) Ron Vlaar (calf), Charles N’Zogbia (knee), Darren Bent (hamstring ) and Richard Dunne (groin) are ruled out of the game against Tottenham.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas should warn his players against complacency, as the players may start the game in a relaxed mood knowing that their rivals are struggling at the moment. The London side has drawn 0-0 their latest game again Stoke City and could be eager to play an attacking style against Aston Villa. Forward Clint Dempsey will be left on the sidelines with a groin injury, while Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Scott Parker may return into action following their long-term absence. Hugo Lloris seems to have cemented his place between the sticks thanks to the string of impressive performances (Tottenham have conceded just one goal in their latest four matches).

Probable line-ups:

Aston Villa: Guzan; Westwood, Baker, Clark, Herd, Lowton; Bennett, Holman, Bannan; Weiman, Benteke

Tottenham: Lloris; Walker, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen; Sandro, Dembélé, Lennon, Bale; Defoe, Adebayor

Footballtop.com prediction: 1-1
