Atlético Madrid to take Torres back on loan

Atlético Madrid to take Torres back on loan

Daily Mirror informs that Torres’ former club Atlético Madrid are willing to offer him an escape route from the Stamford Bridge.

Los Colchoneros are rumored to be interested in re-signing the forward on a season-long loan deal in summer with an option of buying him at any point of his spell in Spain.

Torres came through the ranks at Atlético Madrid youth academy to become the fans’ favorite and one of the most prolific strikes in the history of the club. He has scored 82 goals in 214 appearances for the club. After moving to Liverpool in 2007 he enjoyed several successful seasons under the management of his compatriot Rafa Benitez. However Torres has had a miserable two seasons at the Stamford Bridge since his 50 million transfer from Anfield in 2011, being considered one of the most expensive flops in the history of world football.

With the arrival of Demba Ba Torres faces stiff competition for the first-team place.

Several European top-clubs including PSG and Juventus are also said to be monitoring the situation.

Torres has made 21 appearances for the club scoring 7 goals.
