Barcelona stretch their hands to the trophy

The match between the leaders, between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, between two protagonists Messi and Falcao, at the Camp Nou, ended in a 4-1. Radamel Falcao opened the score at a half-hour mark but goals from Adriano, Sergio Busquets and two from Lionel Messi proved Barca unbeaten. The Blaugrana extended the lead to 9 points.

Third-placed Real Madrid CF are 13 points behind the leaders after 2-2 draw against RCD Espanyol, who have only 12 points and seem close to relegation. Sergio García broke the deadlock thus giving the lead to the visitors and Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabio Coentrao scored within two minutes, right before the half-time mark and shortly after that. Juan Ángel Albin’s late equalizer cancelled the chance for Los Merengues to get three more points. So with 33 José Mourinho considers the gap between his side and the leader is too large to make up.

Málaga CF and Levante UD both earned three more points, claiming victories against Sevilla and Zaragoza respectively. So Málaga is fourth and Levante is fifth.

All the results of La Liga weekend:

Getafe 1-1 Osasuna
Mallorca 0-1 Athletic Bilbao
Ciudad de Murcia 0-0 Real Sociedad
Sevilla 0-2 Malaga
Zaragoza 0-1 Levante
Valencia 0-1 Rayo Vallecano
Real Madrid 2-2 Espanyol
Barcelona 4-1 Atletico Madrid
