Barcelona Villa set to prefer joining Tottenham over a move to Fiorentina

Unsettled Barcelona striker David Villa is looking to define his future next week, as he is reported to be keen on joining Tottenham, with Fiorentina being also interested.

According to the recent speculations, the 31-year-old Spaniard is ready to sign for the Spurs, should the North London club match the Blaugrana’s asking price of £12million.

Villa has endured a mixed last season at Camp Nou, as the number of his appearances was limited due to the lack of fitness, following a broken leg. He is seriously weighing up a move away from Barcelona and is reportedly preferring the Premier League over Serie A.

Striker has been on the verge of making a switch to Arsenal in January, but the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was reluctant to pay £15million for the player.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas considers Villa to be an ideal candidate to team up Defoe and Adebayor up front in his attack-oriented 4-3-3 formation next season.
