Barton denies row with QPR hierarchy

Joey Barton dismissed reports that he tried to force a move from QPR in favor of permanent deal with Marseille.

The 30-year-old controversial midfielder allegedly requested a £3.5million pay-off to terminate his contract with the English side and force a move to Lique 1 club.

However Barton ruled out the rumours about the controversy with the QPR hierarchy via his Twitter fed. He said: “A lot of rumours circulating about me, Marseille and QPR in last few days. As usual loads of #nonsense,” he tweeted.

“I haven’t had a conversation with anyone at QPR since February. When I told them Marseille had offered me 3 years. That was last I heard,” he added.

Barton had an impressive loan spell at Marseille, even though his number of appearances was limited due to series of frustrating injuries. Midfielder close the chapter on the rumours about the controversy, saying: “They know where I am if they want to talk.”
