Bayern through to the DFB Pokal final

Bayern Munich reached the DFB Pokal final after thrashing Wolfsburg 6-1, with Mario Gomez earning the man-of-the-match for scoring a marvelous hat-trick.

The German giants are on course to a domestic double after having guaranteed themselves the Bundesliga title with five games to go. Mandžukic got Bayern to a flying start with a thundering shot into the roof of the net in the 17th minute. Robben extended Bayern’s lead with a simple close-range finish after Shaqiri’s delivery in the 35th minute. Diego has clawed one back with a beautiful shot from just outside of the area in the 45th minute. Shaqiri added his name to a score sheet six minutes into the second half. Then the Swiss set up a goal for Mario Gomez in the 80th minute. Gomez added his second of the game three minutes later and rounded off Bayern’s victory three minutes before the full-time whistle.

Bayern will play either Stuttgart or Freiburg in the final.
