Bundesliga fixtures preview: Dortmund host Bayern Munich, Schalke visit Borussia M’Gladbach
With Champions League finalists Bayern and Borussia having secured the first and the second place in the Bundesliga table and Bayer Leverkusen lacking just three points to guarantee themselves the Champions League football next season, five teams will be chasing the remaining fourth spot with three games to go.
Schalke are considered the favourites to reach the top four this finish as they are sitting in the fourth position, three points above their closest rivals Eintracht. However the Royal Blues know their forthcoming game against seventh-placed Borussia Monchengladbach will hardly be the walk in the park. The defeat could see them seeing the much-desired fourth place slipping from their hands, should rivals Eintracht outplay bottom-dwelling Fortuna.
Meanwhile two more games could bring clarity to the way the battle for the remaining Champions League spot is shaping up. Eighth-placed Hamburg will host Wolsfburg, while sixth-placed Freiburg will face Augsburg.
And certainly the clash between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich will be the central fixture of the Matchday 32. Both Jurgen Klopp and Jupp Heynckes are likely to field all their guns in the Champions League final dress rehearsal.
