Capello admires Barca, Ferguson says it is time for goal line technology

During a three-day European Managers & Coaches Forum the famous managers talked about recent trends in modern football

Russia national team manager Fabio Capello claimed Barcelona sets a tactical example in modern football, stating though:” it would be a big mistake to attempt and copy their style, as it is adapted to its footballers. Some aspects of the game can be replicated, like how they play in defense. When they lose the ball, every player puts the opposing team under pressure without tracking back to the midfield.” The English manager said Barca invented something new, yet insisted for that scheme “players as talented as Iniesta or Messi” are required.

Manchester United head coach Alex Ferguson spoke about the concerns of introducing technology in football. The Scottish tactician stated:” I reckon that introducing the goal line is a big step. Progress is progress, one cannot stop it, but we have to be very careful. Football is a passionate sport and we don’t want the supporters to sit in their seats staring at a screen waiting for a decision”.
