Capello is new Russia’s coach.
On Monday Italian manager Fabio Capello was appointed as new manager of the national team of Russia by the Russian Football Union.
According to the official statement the RFU expects to meet with Capello in Moscow this week to settle all the details and sign the contract.
The 66-year-old coach will take the post over Dick Advocaat who successfully led the team through the Euro 2012 qualification yet did not manage to build the squad strong enough for going out of the group at the tournament. Advocaat resigned after Russia lost to Greece 0-1.
Previously Capello coached Milan, Roma, Juventus, Real and lately England that he left few months ago insisting that the captain of the team John Terry should be cleared of racial abuse allegations.
The list of potential candidates for the position included Harry Redknapp, Rafael Benitez, Marcello Lippi and Marcelo Bielsa.
