Capital One Cup results

Two major clashes in the English Cup third round brought unexpected scores.

Manchester City was defeated by Aston Villa in Capital One Cup third round. Despite taking the lead in the first half after Mario Balotelli found the net at the 27th minute, Gareth Barry put the ball in to his own ten to level the score. In the second half Aleksandr Kolarov netted the ball from free-kick, yet Gabriel Agbonlahor’s shot gave Villa another chance to catch-up. In extra-time, Charles N’Zogbia and Agbonlahor’s successful shots promoted Villa to next round.

Leeds United stunned many winning 2-1 Everton as Rodolph Austin strike made the final score 2-1. Leeds manager Neil Warnock claimed after the match that this victory was one of his highest achievements, adding “our team a little bit sharper in the game, we won the second balls and I think we should have scored one or two more goals, we’re a little bit disappointed that we didn’t, but our team never does anything easy.”
