Cardiff Gunnarsson out for up to 12 weeks

Cardiff midfielder Aron Gunnarsson could be sidelined for up to 12 weeks after sustaining an injury while on an international duty with Iceland.

The 24-year-old player was stretchered after a heavy fall during his side’s 4-2 defeat against Slovenia. The medical assessment revealed Cardiff’s key player has dislocated his shoulder and faces a race against time to be fully fit for the pre-season training.

Cardiff’s head of performance Richard Collinge said: “Aron Gunnarsson is currently undergoing a series of tests and investigations to determine the extent of his shoulder injury, from which we will be able to implement a management and recovery schedule. Any injury is frustrating for a player, but we will give Aron the best possible support to enable a swift return to action.”
