Cesc Fabregas completes a shock move to Chelsea

The Spanish playmaker Cesc Fabregas completes a transfer from Barcelona to Chelsea.

Fabregas, who started his senior career with Arsenal, spent eight years with the Gunners and turned into a fine playmaker under Arsene Wenger. In 2011 the Spaniard moved to his beloved Barcelona and enjoyed a successful spell with the Catalan side. During three years he netted over 40 goals and made more than 40 assists. However, with the arrival of new manager Luis Enrique and anticipated transfer for Sevilla star Ivan Rakitic, Fabregas looked for a new club and considered a number of offers in England:

“I considered all the offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice.
“They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager.
“Yes, everyone knows that Arsenal had the first option to sign me, but they decided not to take this option and therefore it wasn’t meant to be. I wish them well in the future.”

The transfer is believed to be worth £30m.
