Champions League results: Barca stun Milan, Galatasaray march past Schalke
Barcelona gave an impressive master class to Milan despite coming into the game with a two-goal deficit. Lionel Messi opened the score just five minutes into the game curling the ball home from 20 yards out. Serie A side could turn the match around in the first half but M’Baye Niang shot hit the post minutes before Messi scored again in the 40th minute.
The clubs headed into the second half at level 2-2, but that did not last for long as David Villa scored in the 55th minute giving the Catalan side a lead on aggregate. Jordi Alba made it 4-0 minutes before time, thus completing the historic comeback of the Blaugrana.
Galatasaray also progressed into the Champions League quarter-finals after a convincing 3-2 victory away at Schalke. A 1-1 draw in the first leg forced the Istanbul-based team to approach the second leg with full concentration, yet the side started off in the worst way conceding a goals courtesy of Roman Neustadter. The Turkish club leveled 20 minutes later with Hamit Altintop firing home and it was minutes before half-time break that Burak Yilmaz put the side in the lead.
Schalke brought one back just after hour, as Michel Bastos returned hope to the Ruhr giants, but in the end Umit Bulut scored again for Galatasaray thus earning the side a ticket to the next stage.
