Champions League: Wednesday top matches

 Champions League: Wednesday top matches

Benfica v Spartak Moscow

The Portuguese club is at the last position in the group and the game against Spartak is crucial for saving the chances of moving forward in the tournament. Benfica coach Jorge Jesus relies on the powerful attacking line of the side with Lima, Óscar Cardozo and Rodrigo who pose a constant threat for every club, yet Spartak counterattacks may ruin the high expectations of the Portuguese fans.

Braga v Manchester United

Victory in the game brings United a ticket to the last 16 round and Sir Alex Ferguson is well aware of that, though the Scottish tactician aims much higher:” The most important thing is to go through. In order to win the Champions League we have to play at a really high level. Real and Barcelona are the main contenders, and Borussia’s also one of them. I hope we can be together with them as well.” Braga is fighting for the second place in the group and already caused some problems for the English side scoring twice at Old Trafford.

Valencia v BATE

BATE fine start was derailed in the game against Valencia in Minsk where the Spanish team won 3-0.In spite of the fact, that BATE lost all seven previous fixtures with Spanish opponents, the club’s head coach Viktor Goncharenko claimed his team is prepared and motivated for the game. After winning Atletico at weekend Valencia will be desperate to make one more positive step in the season.

Juventus v FC Nordsjælland

Juventus ended in a draw all their games in the group and if the Italian champions want to get to the knock-out stage than FC Nordsjælland should be defeated at all costs. The problems in the attacking line is the major concern for Juve fans as Fabio Quagliarella, Sebastian Giovinco and Nicklas Bendtner still lack consistency in finishing, though Antonio Conte firmly believes the forwards “will improve”.

Bayern München v LOSC Lille

Bayern are level with two other teams in Group F, but the impressive performance of the side in the Bundesliga leaves little doubts that they will qualify from the group. Franck Ribéry is one of the best players in the team that does not only create chances, but also brilliant in defense. Bayern players are eager to win the tournament and Lille has little chances in hampering their progress to the next stage.
