Chelsea accused Mark Clattenburg of ‘inappropriate language’

Chelsea made an official complaint against referee Mark Clattenburg having accused him of using ‘inappropriate language’.

It was reported that the club had made a formal appeal against the referee who, as they had said, racially abused John Mikel Obi and Juan Mata during Sunday match, ended in a 2-3 loss againt Manchester United.

Mark Clattenburg, 37, is considered by the PGMO (the Professional Game Match Officials) as one of the leading officials. He referees important European matches on a regular basis. In February he was responsible for the League Cup final and in August for the Olympic final match between Brazil and Mexico.

The referee, the official and two assistants wore ear pieces and microphones so they heard each other throughout the game, everyone could hear what the other said though that wasn’t recorded.

As it was stated, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the complaint had been received and now it is under consideration.
