Chelsea to bid for Begovic

Chelsea to bid for Begovic

According to Daily Mirror Chelsea are preparing the late bid to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as they are looking to increase the competition in the goalkeeping position.

The recent speculations have linked the Bosnian with the moves to Manchester United and Liverpool, however Chelsea are believed to be interested as well. The Blues desperately need cover for their firm first-choice goalie Petr Cech, taking into account their number two Ross Turnbull’s lack of consistency between the sticks (Turnbull has kept only two clean sheets in his 19 first-team starts).

Chelsea are willing to try and include their on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in a part-exchange deal for their long-term target Radamel Falcao in summer. That is why Chelsea’s move for Begovic on a dealine day is highly likely, after Jack Butland snubbed their offer.
