Chelsea fans demand Benitez resignation, threaten boycotting Chelsea games

Daily Mail states that the Blues’ supporters have been disappointed with team’s poor performances of late to such an extent they issued an ultimatum to the clubs’ board. The fans have decided to boycott Chelsea games until interim Rafa Benitez is sacked.

Benitez has taken over as interim manager at Chelsea following the unpopular Abramovich’s decision to sack fans’ favorite Roberto Di Matteo. Benitez remains the subject to controversy ever since despite the string of impressive results. The fans were gradually losing patience with Benitez and the shocking Capital One Cup 2-0 defeat against Swansea was the last straw to break camel’s back.

‘We are in turmoil and there is a danger we will lose the soul of the club.

‘I know of fans who will not watch Chelsea until Rafa Benitez has gone.

‘In my experience, fans who stop watching the club don’t come back,’

- revealed Trizia Fiorellino chair of Chelsea Supporters

Chelsea fans are also said to be unhappy with the treatment of their legendary midfielder Frank Lampard as he seems to be leaving the club on a free in summer. ‘It is an unpopular decision to let Lampard leave and it seems John Terry may be next,’ Fiorelino added.

Benitez is believed to be hired to get the best of Fernando Torres however the Spanish forward’s performances have not improved significantly despite the early outburst of enthusiasm shortly after Benitez arrival.

Chelsea board is yet to give their answer to the fans’ ultimatum.
