Chelsea hot on the trail of Vitesse star Van Ginkel

Chelsea are confident they will complete the signing of Dutch starlet Marco van Ginkel from Vitesse within next few weeks.

New Blues boss Jose Mourinho was determined to land the player before the start of the pre-season training for £9 million, but the move stalled after the transfer fee with the club has been agreed. While discussing the personal terms with Mourinho, Van Ginkel demanded assurances from the Portuguese that he will be given his share of first-team football.

The 20-year-old Dutch has recently made a breakthrough into the Dutch national team and hopes to be called up for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Van Ginkel knows that sitting on the bench will effectively end his dream of participating in the major international tournament.
