Chelsea target Zenit Hulk

Chelsea target Zenit Hulk

New Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is seriously considering signing of Zenit St.Petersburg forward Hulk, with a view to expand his side’s attacking options.

The Portuguese is reportedly ready to launch a surprise £35 million bid for the 26-year-old Brazil international after missing out on Radamel Falcao, who joined free-spending Monaco. With Fernando Torres’ profligacy and Demba Ba’s fitness problems Mourinho could be left without quality forward to rely on before the beginning of the season.

The Russians, who have landed Hulk for a staggering £50 million last season, are prepared to offload the Brazilian after his tough first season in St.Petersburg. Hulk fell out with Zenit boss Luciano Spaletti and was booed by Zenit fans on several occasions, while his high wages led to the dressing-room tensions.

And yet Mourinho is a long-term admirer of the versatile forward, who can play either on the left or through the middle up front, and is prepared to splash some cash on the Brazilian.
