Chelsea Terry could miss Europa League final

Chelsea Terry could miss Europa League final

Chelsea are sweating on fitness of their skipper John Terry ahead of the Europa League final against Benfica, scheduled on Wednesday.

Terry has suffered an ankle injury and was stretchered off during Chelsea’s Premier League 2-1 away win over Aston Villa on Saturday. The Blues skipper was spotted leaving Villa Park on crutches. Now it looks like he is set to miss the second European final in 12 months after being suspended for last year’s Champions League final.

Currently Terry is awaiting for a scan on his injured ankle to learn if he would be fit enough to participate in the upcoming Europa League final in Amsterdam. He said: “It is my ankle. I’m going to get it scanned. I don’t know if I’ll be fit for Wednesday at the moment.”

Terry’s teammate Frank Lampard admitted Terry’s loss could be a major blow to their chances of claiming Europa League trophy, saying: “It’s a huge blow. I am gutted for him because I know how difficult that was for him, missing the game last year. But whatever we do as a club, John is part of it. We win things together.”
