Chelsea through to the World Club Cup final

Chelsea through to the World Club Cup final

Chelsea produced an excellent display to thrash 3-1 the CONCACAF champions Monterrey and progress to the final. They will play with CONMEBOL champions Corinthians on December, 16th, in what is perceived as traditional World Club Cup final – the best European side against the best South American side.

Fernando Torres was on fire today, with his goal in the 46th minute capping a remarkable all-around performance. Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez has apparently succeeded in instilling confidence in his compatriot.

However it was Juan Mata who scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute after the lovely pass from Oscar. Mata, Luiz and Hazard bossed the midfield, creating numerous chances and effectively denying the opportunities for the oppositions’ counterattack.

Darvin Chávez ‘s own goal rounded off Chelsea’s victory in the 48th minute, with De Nigris grabbing the consolation goal in the extra time.
